Harrisburg, PA April 28, 2011 - Pan.a.ce.a, Northeast-PA's powerhouse hard rock quartet, has decided to call it quits after 8+ years as a band. The news comes as a shock to their many fans as well as supporters in the music industry. Even Susquehanna Entertainment, who signed the band 2 1/2 years ago and set this week as the add date for the new radio single, was taken by surprise. What follows is a heartfelt thank you and apology from Pan.a.ce.a's soon-to-be former manager.
From Terry Selders to supporters of Pan.a.ce.a:
To everyone that I've pitched Pan.a.ce.a to - radio stations, clubs, promoters, the press, etc. - please accept my sincerest apology for helping to cultivate your appreciation and support of this band. I convinced you that Pan.a.ce.a had staying power, that they were focused on the future and would do whatever it took to make it to the next level. I was wrong about that and I am sorry for misleading you.
I also promoted them to you as a force to be dealt with because of their excellent music and great live show. No apology there - they were a rare find and they had something truly special. When the individuals were all working together and on the same page, it was magic.
Thank you so much for believing in Pan.a.ce.a - to the fans for coming to shows, buying CDs, digital downloads, t-shirts and hats, and to the industry for the radio play, bookings, articles and reviews. It's just a shame that some members of Pan.a.ce.a themselves no longer believe in the band. Without going into detail, that's what it comes down to. From my standpoint, I don't get it - this last year has seen the band progress so much further than ever before.
They were finally ready for something big to happen. But it was going to take another record to see what the real possibilities would be and some members just didn't have it in them to do that. Actual comments included things like their goals and what they considered to be success had changed. I mention this because as a management company / indie label, our goals never changed - we did everything promised and it was working. The huge amount of time and effort (and money too) that I put into this personally, especially over the last year, had paid off. It angers me because all of that is now wasted, and by not following through with another CD, my reputation has been damaged. It is a devastating blow to Susquehanna Entertainment to have our flagship band pack it in at this stage of their career.
So yes, I'm extremely frustrated and upset over this. But I am certainly not the only one it's happened to - indeed I hear a very similar story over and over from others in the business, and it even happened to me once before. Maybe I should start a support group for artist managers - just email me at IGotScrewed2@susent.com and we'll talk. Until then, I'll be home watching the Military Channel.
